Global Climate Institute is a worldwide initiative, engaging in climate projects all around the world, as our presence must reflect the problems we have been created to solve, namely local environmental challenges on a global climate problem. Our long-term ambition is to be both visible and operational in most countries around the world, doing everything from protecting our rainforests, re-establishing forest areas, developing and implementing renewable energy sources and green initiatives, offsetting CO2 emissions, participating in environmental and water projects and protecting our oceans.
GCI is politically independent and works according to the philosophy that the world’s environmental problems cannot, and will not, be solved only at a political level, but rather by the many companies around the world that actively and financially contribute towards creating a healthy, clean and environmentally friendly climate on the planet we all share. GCI believes it is only natural that the many businesses around the world, which for decades have exploited and used our planet’s resources and still do, also take responsibility for the re-establishment, cleaning and the necessary rectification to keep our climate in balance on this amazing planet we all call home. GCI is not a product of the hippie culture of the 1960s, where capitalists, market shares, profits and earnings were perceived as being on the wrong side of the issue. Rather, we came about as a natural consequence of a global society where trade, political collaboration and sustainable economics is a matter of course and where we acknowledge that climate and environmental problems can – and must – be solved by bringing all parties to the table in order to ensure durable and future-proof solutions. GCI regards global businesses as natural partners in a joint project and we recognise that the solutions that are needed to achieve a sustainable global climate can only be found and solved if working together. For many years, companies across the globe have contributed to new, innovative solutions to many environmental problems that exist today, and it is only with the involvement of the global companies that we have a chance to overcome the challenges we face. GCI helps companies across the globe achieve an environmentally friendly image and offset their carbon footprint.
GCI is a global project which aims to promote and create new and innovative green solutions and environmental projects around the world. GCI make use of local organizations, associations, foundations, NGOs and public institutions worldwide to help manage the actual projects. Development, projecting, planning and management of our various activities, including protecting our rainforests, developing and setting up renewable energy sources and green initiatives, re-establishing forest areas, environmental and water projects, CO2 offsetting and protecting our oceans, takes place at the international level in consultation with a large number of specialists, each with their own field of expertise and focus area. GCI is not an organization in the traditional sense, nor do we believe in the commonly held idea that climate problems should be solved by consumers remembering to turn off the lights when they leave a room. A UN report found that we need to plant 350 million hectares of woodland on our planet to keep global temperatures from rising over the key target of two degrees Celsius. GCI believes that this can only be achieved with the involvement of companies around the globe, which is why our projects are solely aimed at companies rather than individuals. In other words, GCI does not work with individuals, but exclusively with businesses worldwide. GCI plans and implements concepts that are all aimed in contributing to a healthier climate for the benefit of future generations, while also helping companies achieve a healthier bottom line. Imagine a world where there is a financial incentive for planting trees and making our planet a greener place to live. GCI believes in the future, and the future is green – with global companies getting involved in climate projects.
